Getting started
What is Motif?

Motif is a personality-driven recovery coach for your iPhone. It reads the data from a wearable you already own and turns it into daily, plain-language guidance, in the voice of a coach you actually want to hear from. There is no hardware to buy.

What do I need to use it?

An iPhone running iOS 26 or later, and either an Apple Watch (via Apple Health) or a connected wearable such as Oura or WHOOP. Motif also works with Apple Health data on its own.

Is Motif free?

Yes. The core app is free forever: your full metrics dashboard, daily readiness, sleep and resilience scores, one coach of your choice, and your morning check-in. Motif Pro unlocks all four coaches and unlimited chat. See pricing.

Wearables & data
Which wearables does Motif support?

Apple Watch (through Apple Health), Oura, and WHOOP are supported today, with more providers (Garmin, Fitbit, Polar) rolling out. Motif merges data from your wearable and Apple Health so nothing gets lost, for example, Apple Health steps stay even when your recovery data comes from WHOOP.

How do I connect a wearable?

During onboarding, or later from the Connect screen, tap your provider and sign in through its secure authorization flow. For Apple Watch, grant Motif access to Apple Health when prompted. Your data starts syncing right away.

My recovery or sleep data isn't showing up. What can I do?

First, pull down on the home screen to force a fresh sync. Recovery scores from some providers (notably WHOOP) are computed after your sleep is finalized, so they can appear a little later in the morning. If a metric stays blank after a full day, make sure the wearable's own app has the data and that Motif still has permission, then email info@motif.fitness and we'll dig in.

Why does a metric show a dash (–)?

A dash means there's no real reading for that day or that your device doesn't report that metric. Motif never invents or guesses numbers, so an honest dash is shown instead of a fake value.

Is my health data private?

Yes. Your health data is used only to power your scores, trends, and coaching. We never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never share it with data brokers. Read the full Privacy Policy.

Coaches
How are the four coaches different?

Same science underneath, four very different voices on top. Sage is calm and grounded, Sergeant is tough love and zero excuses, Analyst is precise and data-driven, and Hype is your loudest cheerleader. Pick the one that gets you moving.

Can I switch coaches?

Yes. Change your coach whenever you like from your profile. Switching never wipes your history, each coach keeps its own conversation thread. On the free plan you keep the one coach you chose at onboarding; Motif Pro lets you switch between all four anytime.

Does my coach remember our past chats?

Yes. Your coach has your recent data and conversation context, and keeps short long-term memories (like weekly summaries and milestones) so it can speak to your trends over time, not just today.

Subscriptions & billing
What does Motif Pro include?

All four coaches with unlimited switching, unlimited coach chat, full trends across weeks and months, sleep stages, resilience and workouts, and long-term coach memory. It's $9.99/month or $39.99/year (about $3.33/month), with a 7-day free trial.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. If you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the current billing period.

How do refunds work?

All purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.

Account & data
How do I change my name or email?

Tap your name in Profile to edit your display name, it saves automatically. For email changes, contact info@motif.fitness.

How do I export my data?

Go to Profile → Privacy and choose data export to download a copy of your account information and stored data.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Privacy → Delete account. This is permanent and irreversible: it erases your profile, chats, conversations, memories, snapshots, and device tokens, and removes your connected wearable-integration user so no orphaned data is left behind. If anything goes wrong, you stay signed in and see an error so nothing is half-deleted.

I forgot my password.

Use the password-reset option on the sign-in screen, or email info@motif.fitness and we'll help you back in.
